Every time you shop at The Literacy Site store, you give extra books for children in need. During our "Extra Donation Days," your shopping at GreaterGood Network stores does even more to help! Here is what we have accomplished together through the additional funding generated by our Extra Donation Days in 2009:
- Funded 5 weekly one-on-one reading sessions, with a trained-to-listen dog, in a program to increase reading confidence and skill for underprivileged children through Sit Stay Read
- Funded over 10 months of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food to help children recover from being malnourished through Partners in Health
- Funded 63 pairs of shoes to help girls through CAMFED
- Funded heating for 13 classrooms in Afghanistan for the whole winter through the Central Asia Institute
- Funded 33 school uniforms and necessary supplies for a year through Central Asia Institute
- Funded 11,346 toys for children in need through Bears Without Borders
- Funded 83,847 meals for families in the United States through Feeding America
- Funded clean water for 48 children in Ethiopia through A Child's Right
- Funded $2,196 of humanitarian aid for refugees in Eastern Congo through Mercy Corps
- Funded 62 Berkeley Darfur Stove subsidies for refugees through the Darfur Stoves Project
- Funded 3,019 trees to be planted in the Michoacán forest through the Michoacán Reforestation Fund

- Funded 118,306 meals for families in need through Feeding America
- Funded 2,705 pounds of seeds for African families through Charities Advisory Trust
- Funded 59,000 cups of food for Darfur refugees through Mercy Corps
- Funded 248 backpacks with food for children in the U.S. through Feeding America
- Funded 2,100 lunches for school children through Partners In Health
- Funded 273,000 water purification tablets for displaced victims of Cyclone Nargis in Burma through the Foundation for the People of Burma
- Funded 900 days of food for Tibetan nuns through Dolma Ling
- Funded 1,340 vaccinations for children in Burma through the Global Health Access Program and the Mae Tao Clinic
- Funded 6,310 teddy bears for children in need through Bears Without Borders
- Funded $736 for cyclone recovery in Burma through the Global Health Access Program
- Funded 7,221 trees to be planted in the Michoacán through the Michoacán Reforestation Fund
- Funded 4,558 books for children in need through Room to Read and First Book
- Funded $947 toward building a school in Nepal through Room to Read
- Funded the preservation of 198,490 additional square feet of rainforest habitat through The Nature Conservancy, The Rainforest Conservation Fund, World Land Trust, and Rainforest2Reef
- Funded 590 seedlings to be planted in orangutan habitat through the Sumatran Orangutan Society
- Funded $950 of humanitarian aid in the Democratic Republic of Congo through Mercy Corps
