August is National Peach Month and twenty of San Francisco’s premier restaurants have banned together to create “Peach & Plum Dining Month” to celebrate California's locally grown peaches and plums. Each participating restaurant also has dedicated a dish to the fight against breast cancer.
The restaurants will donate $1 from every dedicated peach and/or plum dish sold from August 15 to September 15 to The Breast Cancer Site’s Gifts That Give More™ program to help fund free mammograms for women in need.
“San Francisco is a culinary capital, and as a chef, it’s an honor to contribute to such an amazing cause,” said executive chef Jennifer Puccio of San Francisco’s critically acclaimed Marlowe restaurant. Puccio’s featured menu item is Peach Burrata (peaches, smoked olive oil, smoked salt and chilies).
Some of the other tasty treats being cooked up include Peach & Heirloom Tomato Salad with pinenut fillo and coriander-preserved lemon chutney from Gitane; seared foie gras with grilled peach, peach coulis, and dwarf truffle peach from 5A5; peach crumble cake with vanilla gelato and Bellini Couli from Beretta; Pinkie's Peach Cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream from Citizen's Band; Slice of peach and basil pizza dolce with vanilla gelato from Delarosa; crispy mustard glazed pork belly with roasted peach and spiced cabbage from District; peach and passion fruit mimosa from DOSA on Fillmore; peach cobbler parfait & bratwurst with pickled plum from Hog & Rocks; Peach tart dessert from Ironside; lemon-vanilla rice pudding with lemon curd from fresh pluots and pluot sauce from Midi; peach milkshake from Roam Artisan Burgeres; organic yellow peach & blackberry cobble with vanilla bean ice cream from Trademark; and oven roasted poussin with peach gastrique and braised greens from Uva Enoteca, among others.
