We got our lab mix Chester from the Ft. Worth pound when his time had just about ran out. Even though I had picked him out on Petfinder, my husband went right to his cage first. They have been inseparable ever since. L Mo was a pit bull mix that was scheduled to be put down since pits don't make good adoptions. Luckily, a woman who ran a school for vets and techs adopted him. He was practiced on for months and a sonogram of the heart showed heart worms, even though his test had come back negative. He had to stay in a cage for months while he went through multiple heart worm treatments. At that time, I was losing a dog so I was at the vet all the time and fell in love with L Mo. I decided to adopt him even if my other dog lived, which would have made 4 dogs at the time. My big poodle didn’t make it, but God knew L Mo was the dog to help me get over my grief. Billy Bob is a standard poodle who was bread in Texas to be a show dog. He was purchased by a woman in Vermont, but she became ill after a year of training him and sent him back to Texas. A woman in Dallas then purchased him from the breeder, but being a very shy dog, he didn’t fit her mold of what she was looking for. She took him to a rescue and I was lucky enough to find him. It has taken him about 2 years to finally realize we are keeping him and he is coming out of his shell. Please adopt from pounds/rescues and give a dog a chance before you just toss them out.
